A small daypack makes room for water, a rain layer and the essentials for walking between highland fields.
Keep your hands free
A daypack with comfortable straps is easier on narrow paths than a shoulder bag. Put water where you can reach it without unpacking. Keep your phone and spare layer in a dry bag inside the pack.
Leave room for changing ground
Choose shoes with tread that you have already walked in. Check trail conditions before setting out and tell your guide about the pace you enjoy. A picnic stop is more comfortable with a light layer for when you stop moving.
